Cambodia and China have cultivated ties within the 2010s. A Chinese firm with the help in the People's Liberation Military built a deep-water seaport along ninety km (fifty six mi) extend of Cambodian coastline with the Gulf of Thailand in Koh Kong province; the port is sufficiently deep to be used by cruise ships, bulk carriers or warships.
